In my four years when I was a student, I was able to develop skills of responsibility, diligence and analytical skills that have pushed me through different jobs, challenges and generally every sphere of life. Nevertheless, attending the law school has helped cultivate integrity in every sphere of my life. In November 2015, I attained the Presidential Gold Award. This enabled me to challenge myself, and persevere through challenging tasks that were given by the coordinators. This vigorous training has enhanced my diligence and precision in every task I handle. While completing my law studies, I worked part-time in the judicial courts in Milimani under the supervision of the Hon. Principal Magistrate Felix Kombo. My responsibilities in this role included: (a) Attending court sessions. (b) Writing of judgements and legal analysis on issues that were raised in court. (c) Discussing assignments handed to us. (d) Any other duties as directed by my supervisor. Working in the Law Courts has given me key employability skills while also allowing me to experience working in a professional and fast-paced work environment. With regard to my ability to meet the specific requirements of this job: (a) Quality work- while writing judgments, we had to make sure that our legal analyses of the issues were top of the mark and there was no room for error. We had to have broad understandings of the cases at hand and the legal as well as factual basis. (b) Solving of problems and issues handed to us- we had to make sure that we heard the cases of various parties as they stood to present their cases and that we will point out important issues and relate them to what we study in our law areas. (c) Integrity- everything I did in my judicial attachment had to be done with integrity. The Constitution of Kenya, was a guide to ensuring this a reality. All these skills I have incorporated in to the various activities, attachments and commitments that I am engaged in I have also worked at Maina Makome and Co Advocates as an intern in which my roles were similar to those at the Law Courts except for writing of judgements. I also worked with the Institute of Environment and Water Management (IEWM), where I was privileged to work with various disadvantaged groups, listening to the challenges they faced and offering solutions that would help achieve sustainable development goals. Nevertheless, I was engaged in the WADI project in which I visited various schools in Kajiado to provide solutions so as to enjoy clean and safe water. On a part-time basis, I worked at the Big Five Africa Ltd, helping in writing of reports as well as proposals, editing of documents, and general office work as directed by my superiors.
