This is an evergreen tree (has leaves throughout the year) that grows up to 35m high with a dense conical crown and about 70cm in diameter. Bark on trunk is reddish-brown, exfoliating in long, narrow strips, eventually becoming roughened by the development of many short cracks. Seeds are brown, with resin glands, about 4mm long.
Growing Conditions
Growing cypress trees successfully depends on planting the in the right location. Choose a site with full sun or partial shade and rich, acid soil.
It is found in seasonally moist to permanently moist climates, with annual precipitation typically between 1000-1500mm and a dry season lasting not more than 2-3 months.
