This position requires working outside in extreme environments, working at heights, and prolonged periods of repetitious duties including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Carry out skilled roofing work. This will include determining job requirements, planning/configuring, installations, repairing and replacing roofing including conventional, inverted built-up, single-ply and two-ply modified. Using materials, such as wood, brick, asphalt, tar, shingles, slate, aluminum, bricks and other appropriate materials.
Removing or repairing broken tiles or slates (stripping)
Checking roof timbers
Fitting felt sheets to roofs
Measuring and cutting materials
Covering roofs with slates, tiles or cladding
Cutting and fitting lead 'flashings' around chimney stacks and walls
Sealing roof joints with mortar
Tasks will also include damp, water and weather- proofing, bind, insulate and seal openings in roofs installing and repairing slate, leadwork, guttering, tile and shingles, resurfacing roofs and associated joinery.
