Responsibilities
The appointed chef shall be responsible for daily kitchen operation management, Western & local cuisine cooking, menu development and regular updates. You will supervise kitchen staff, control food cost and raw material inventory, ensure all dishes meet five-star hotel taste and presentation standards. You strictly implement food hygiene & safety regulations, conduct regular training for junior kitchen staff, inspect kitchen cleaning and equipment maintenance, and coordinate with the front office to cater for private banquets, group tourists and customized dining orders.
Requirements & Skills
Hard skills: Over 5 years professional culinary experience with formal five-star hotel working background; proficient in Western cuisine, African local dishes making; skilled in food portion control, cost accounting and kitchen workflow arrangement; familiar with Kenya food safety standards. Soft skills: Strong team management and communication ability; careful attention to details under peak working hours; good stress resistance; capable of leading a kitchen team; fluent basic English communication to coordinate cross-department work.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Certificate in Culinary Arts / Hotel Catering Management from recognized vocational institute; valid Kenya food handler health certificate; formal resume proving minimum 5 years continuous kitchen employment in five-star hospitality establishments; relevant chef level certification is preferred.
