Responsibilities
The Informal Sector Workers Association of Kenya (ISWAK) is a national membership-based organization committed to advancing the rights, welfare, economic empowerment, social protection, skills development, financial inclusion, market access, and policy participation of informal sector workers across Kenya. As part of strengthening its national presence and ensuring effective implementation of its programmes at grassroots level, ISWAK invites applications from qualified, committed and community-oriented Kenyans to serve as County Coordinators in all 47 counties. KEY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The County Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the implementation of ISWAK programmes, projects, campaigns and activities within the assigned county. The successful candidate will serve as the principal link between the ISWAK National Secretariat, county structures, members, informal sector workers, community stakeholders, partners and other relevant institutions.
Requirements & Skills
The ideal candidate should demonstrate: Strong leadership and coordination skills. Excellent community mobilization and networking abilities. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational, planning and time-management skills. Basic research, data collection and reporting skills. Computer literacy, including the ability to use email, Microsoft Office, and online communication platforms. Social media and digital communication skills will be an added advantage. Ability to organize meetings, trainings, workshops and community activities. Integrity, accountability, professionalism and commitment to public service. Ability to work with people from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds. Problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability and willingness to travel within the assigned county.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements: Be a Kenyan citizen and ordinarily resident, or have strong working knowledge of the county applied for. Possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree from a recognized institution in any of the following or related fields: Community Development; Social Sciences; Development Studies; Public Administration; Project Management; Business Administration; Economics; Cooperative Development; Entrepreneurship; Social Work; Political Science; Governance; Communication; or Any other relevant discipline. Candidates with relevant professional qualifications and substantial community mobilization experience may also be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of the informal sector and the socio-economic issues affecting informal sector workers. Demonstrable experience in community mobilization, programme coordination, advocacy, development work, membership organizations, or related activities will be an added advantage.
