The NSS‐4681 VR (or similar NS‐468 series) cable tester is a handheld network cable diagnostic tool used for quickly checking the integrity and wiring of Ethernet and phone cables. It typically consists of two parts — a main unit and a detachable remote unit — so you can test cables even when they are installed at opposite ends. It powers from a 9 V battery and uses a row of LED indicators to show continuity and pin‐by‐pin wiring status. The tester helps identify open circuits, short circuits, crossed wires, and miswired pairs on RJ45 Ethernet (UTP/STP), RJ11/RJ12 telephone cables before installation or during troubleshooting.
