The drinker consists of a bowl that automatically fills with water from a pressurized line (it could be water in a tank slightly raised above ground or a direct connection to a domestic water pipe serving the household) A valve controls the level of the water in the bowl. When the cow is drinking from the bowl, upon making contact with the flexible lever, a valve is opened automatically and water flows. When the cow stops drinking and thus stops contact with the lever, the valve is closed and no water flows. This ensures that the bowl will always remain dry as so long as the coaw is not drinking thus ensuring maximum hygiene.
