Asper bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper), also known as giant or dragon bamboo, is a massive tropical clumping variety native to Southeast Asia. Its seeds are extremely rare because the plant flowers only once every 30 to 100 years. It produces thick, durable timber culms reaching 16–26 meters and yields large, edible sweet shoots.
