Tabletop material & finish
A tempered glass top is ideal: it offers higher strength and safety than ordinary glass.
The underside / edge finish matters: smooth edges, polished finish help avoid chips or sharp corners.
Also ensure the glass top is well supported (metal or strong wood base) so it’s stable.
2. Frame / base construction
Since glass has little “give”, the base must be sturdy so the table doesn’t flex.
Frames in metal or solid wood give good longevity.
The base design should consider chair clearance (so six chairs fit comfortably around).
