A tent heat gun, often also referred to as a "hot air welder," is a specialized and powerful tool designed for the maintenance and repair of tents and other technical textiles. Unlike a standard heat gun used for stripping paint, a tent heat gun provides a highly controlled, concentrated stream of hot air, typically ranging from 40°C to over 600°C.
This precise temperature and airflow control allow it to be used for "hot air welding" or fusing thermoplastic materials like PVC and TPO, which are common in commercial tents. It works by using a heated element to warm up the air, which is then blown out through a specialized flat nozzle.
