Slump Test Procedure
1. Set Up the Cone
Place the slump cone on a flat, rigid surface and ensure it is firmly held in place (using foot holds or by standing on the base).
2. Moisten the Equipment
Lightly dampen the inside of the cone and the base plate to prevent concrete from sticking.
3. Fill the Cone
Fill the cone with fresh concrete in three equal layers.
4. Compact the Concrete
Tamp each layer using a standard tamping rod with about 25 strokes per layer, ensuring even compaction.
5. Top Off and Level
Overfill slightly, then strike off excess concrete so the top is level with the cone.
6. Remove the Cone
Lift the cone slowly and vertically in a steady motion without any sideways movement.
7. Measure Slump
Measure the vertical drop from the original height of the cone to the highest point of
