Infrared thermometer
An infrared thermometer measures surface or body temperature from a distance without physical contact by detecting emitted thermal radiation.
How It Works
• Thermal Emission: All objects above absolute zero emit invisible infrared energy.
• Optics & Conversion: A lens focuses the energy onto a thermopile sensor, which changes the thermal radiation into an electrical signal and displays the temperature.
• Distance Ratio: Many models use a distance-to-spot ratio (such as 12:1), meaning the measurement area grows wider the farther away you hold the device
