A Wi-Fi repeater (also called a range extender or booster) is a networking device designed to expand the coverage area of your wireless network. It works by catching your existing wireless signal from your router, amplifying it, and rebroadcasting the boosted signal into areas of your home or office where the connection is weak or nonexistent.
Reception: Placed midway between your wireless router and the dead zone, the repeater connects wirelessly to your router's existing network.
Amplification & Rebroadcast: It takes the incoming data packets and transmits them out via its own internal antennas, creating a secondary network extension (often with the same SSID name or a suffix like _Ext).
