Engine‐powered, wheeled design: The machine sits on wheels. The engine drives a stout cutting head beneath or in front of the wheels. You push (or drive) the cutter over the area to be cleared.
Wide cutting width / heavy-duty blades: Walk‐behind brush cutters typically feature a wide cutting deck or blade span (often 20–30+ inches / ~50–75 cm, depending on model) so you can clear a lot of vegetation in one pass.
Power for thick vegetation: Because of their engine and blade design, they can deal with tough weeds, overgrown grass, tall brush, and even small saplings or woody shrubs — not just lawn‐type grass.
Adjustable deck/height (on many models): Many walk‐behind machines allow adjustment of cutting height or deck setting — useful when you want an initial rough cut (high) followed by a finer cut (lower).
