This is a submersible centrifugal water pump — a pump in which the motor and impeller assembly are designed to be fully submerged in the water source (well, borehole, deep well, underground reservoir, or water tank). Because it’s submerged, it pushes water upward rather than pulling it from above, which reduces common problems associated with surface pumps such as “cavitation” (the formation of air bubbles that can impair pumping).
