An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is a critical component in power backup systems, designed to ensure an uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply. It continuously monitors the main utility power and, when a failure or abnormal condition occurs, automatically disconnects the load from the main source and connects it to a secondary source such as a generator or inverter. Once the main power is restored and stabilized, the ATS safely transfers the load back to the utility supply.
ATS systems are widely used in homes, hospitals, data centers, industries, and commercial buildings, where power continuity is essential. By eliminating the need for manual switching, an ATS enhances safety, efficiency, and equipment protection, while preventing dangerous backfeeding into the utility grid.
