A petrol engine is an internal combustion engine that uses petrol (gasoline) as fuel to produce mechanical power.
Working Principle
A petrol engine works on the Otto cycle and usually has four strokes:
Intake Stroke
Air and petrol mixture enters the cylinder.
Compression Stroke
The piston compresses the mixture.
Power Stroke
A spark plug ignites the compressed mixture, producing power.
Exhaust Stroke
Burnt gases are expelled out.
