LXT System
Makita doesn’t use a unique “36 V battery pack” like some brands. Instead, 36 V tools on the Makita LXT platform are powered by two 18 V batteries connected in series — often written as 18V × 2 = 36 V. This lets powerful outdoor and heavier tools run off the same 18 V batteries you already use for other tools in the LXT lineup.
How It Works
Makita’s LXT battery system uses 18 V lithium‐ion slide packs.
Certain high‐power tools (like mowers, blowers, trimmers, chain saws) take two 18 V LXT batteries simultaneously to give 36 V (nominal) power.
You don’t need special 36 V‐only batteries — just two LXT batteries of the same capacity and type.
