Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Sales** * **Greeting and Assistance:** Welcoming customers warmly, understanding their needs, and providing expert advice on products. * **Sales Processing:** Operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling cash and card transactions accurately, and issuing receipts. * **Handling Complaints:** Managing customer feedback or complaints professionally to maintain the store’s reputation. * **Up-selling and Cross-selling:** Proactively suggesting complementary products to increase the average transaction value. ### **2. Inventory & Stock Management** * **Stock Display:** Arranging products on shelves, ensuring they are clean, attractively displayed, and properly labeled with prices. * **Restocking:** Monitoring inventory levels, notifying management when stock is low, and promptly replenishing shelves from the storeroom.
Requirements & Skills
1. Core Interpersonal & Communication Skills** Since shop attendants are the face of the business, these "soft skills" are critical for driving sales and ensuring repeat customers. * **Customer Service Excellence:** A welcoming attitude, patience, and the ability to handle difficult or frustrated customers with empathy and professionalism. * **Active Listening:** Understanding exactly what a customer is looking for, rather than just trying to push a random product. * **Persuasive Communication:** The ability to clearly explain product benefits, answer questions, and suggest complementary items (**cross-selling/upselling**) without being overly aggressive. * **Conflict Resolution:** Calmly managing returns, exchanges, or customer complaints in alignment with store policies.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Kcse, kiswahili and english college and diploma option
Minimum Experience
less than 1 year

Cashiering & Transactions** * Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, cash register, and card/mobile payment terminals. * Process cash, credit, debit, and digital payments accurately. * Issue receipts, refunds, change, or fabricates gift wrapping where necessary. * Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
