Precast IBDs are used for channeling storm waters. They are designed to remain open for ease of cleaning. IBDs are open and quite deep hence not suitable for motor vehicle passage. For very deep drains, the IBDs have side slabs that can be installed to extend the paving of the drainage to the surface hence the depth of the drainage that IBDs can cover is not limited to the height/depth of the IBD itself
