MIG machine (Metal Inert Gas welding machine) is a type of welding equipment used to join metal pieces together by feeding a continuous wire electrode through a welding gun while shielding the weld area with gas to prevent contamination. It is also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). How It Works The machine feeds a continuous solid wire electrode through a welding gun. When the trigger is pressed, electricity creates an arc between the wire and the metal. The arc melts the wire and base metal, forming a molten weld pool. A shielding gas (usually argon, CO2, or a mix) protects the weld from air contamination. The melted metal cools and solidifies to form a strong joint.
