A Krone tool (also called a punch-down tool) is a handheld telecommunications and network cable tool used to insert and secure copper wires into insulation-displacement connectors (IDCs) like those on patch panels, keystone jacks, telephone blocks and network distribution frames.
It works by seating the wire into a terminal slot and pushing it down with a spring-loaded blade, which makes electrical contact through the IDC and often trims excess wire in one motion.
