M-Audio BX8 D2: The Studio Workhorse
The BX8 D2 was the longtime standard for producers who wanted a big, powerful sound without a massive price tag. It is widely respected for its “warm” character and its ability to handle deep bass frequencies without needing a dedicated subwoofer.
Core Technical Specs
The D2 delivers a total of 130 watts of power, split between a 70-watt amplifier for the woofer and a 60-watt amplifier for the tweeter. It features an 8-inch Kevlar woofer, which is incredibly stiff and lightweight, allowing for a tight and punchy low-end response down to 38Hz. The 1.25-inch natural silk dome tweeter handles the highs up to 22kHz, providing a smooth top end that doesn’t cause too much ear fatigue during long mixing sessions.
