Fiber laser pen, officially known as a Visual Fault Locator (VFL), is a handheld, pen-style diagnostic tool used by network technicians to trace fiber lines and visually detect physical issues in fiber optic networks. It injects a highly concentrated, bright red laser beam (usually at a 650nm wavelength) into a fiber core. If there is a break, sharp bend, or faulty splice, the red light leaks out and glows visibly right through the outer cable jacket.
