An HIV Test 1/2 is a rapid diagnostic test used to detect antibodies to HIV‐1 and HIV‐2 in a small blood sample (often from a finger prick). It provides quick results, usually within 15–20 minutes, helping healthcare providers or testing programs screen individuals for exposure to the virus. These tests are commonly used in clinics, health camps, outreach screening, and voluntary counseling and testing services.
The kit typically includes a test strip or cassette, lancet, buffer solution, and instructions. When the sample and buffer are applied to the test, visible lines appear to indicate whether antibodies are present (reactive) or absent (non‐reactive). A reactive result suggests possible HIV infection and must be confirmed with further testing as per national guidelines.
