A NetLink “Base 100” Media Converter is a network device that converts electrical Ethernet signals to fiber-optic signals and back, letting you link standard 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (RJ45) equipment over fiber optic cables for long-distance network connections. It typically has one RJ45 port for copper Ethernet and one fiber port (100Base-FX) for optical fiber, and it follows industry standards like IEEE 802.3u for Fast Ethernet.
