This is a submersible centrifugal water pump — a pump in which the motor and impeller assembly are designed to be fully submerged in the water source (well, borehole, deep well, underground reservoir, or water tank). Because it’s submerged, it pushes water upward rather than pulling it from above, which reduces common problems associated with surface pumps such as “cavitation” (the formation of air bubbles that can impair pumping). The “1 HP” rating indicates the motor’s power output is around 1 horsepower (≈ 0.75 kW). In pumps of this type, that power combined with a multi-stage pump design allows them to lift water from significant depths — far deeper than simple shallow-well pumps.
