Grinder carbon brushes are small, replaceable blocks of carbon graphite that conduct electrical current between the stationary wires and the spinning rotor of a grinder’s motor.
By riding against the rotating commutator, they complete the electrical circuit required to keep the tool running. Because they endure constant friction, carbon brushes naturally wear down over time.
If your grinder experiences sparking, intermittent power, or refuses to turn on, worn brushes are usually the culprit. Replacing them is a quick, inexpensive fix that prevents costly motor damage and extends the lifespan of your power tool.
