Vinyl cutting plotter is a computer-controlled machine used to cut designs, letters, shapes, and graphics from thin vinyl sheets or similar materials. Instead of printing with ink, the machine uses a sharp blade to precisely cut the material according to a digital design. How a Vinyl Cutting Plotter Works A design is created on a computer using graphic design software. The design is sent to the cutting plotter. The machine moves a small blade across the vinyl sheet. The blade cuts the top layer of vinyl without cutting the backing paper. The unwanted vinyl is removed in a process called weeding. Transfer tape is used to apply the final design onto surfaces.
