Digital persona UR4500 utilizes an optical fingerprint sensor that captures detailed fingerprint images by scanning the ridges and valleys on the surface of a finger. Optical sensing works by illuminating the finger and capturing the reflected light pattern, which translates into a grayscale image representing the fingerprint’s unique features.
Once the fingerprint image is captured, the device processes it locally or transfers the data via USB to connected software that extracts minutiae points — distinct patterns such as ridge endings and bifurcations — used for matching and verification.
