A mysterious, swirling vortex suddenly opens in the skies above Planet Popstar, sucking in Kirby, his friends, and Waddle Dees alike. Kirby wakes up stranded on the shores of a beautiful, overgrown "Forgotten Land"—a collapsed, post-apocalyptic civilization reclaimed by nature. He discovers that a hostile faction called the Beast Pack is capturing all the Waddle Dees. Teamed up with a mystical, floating chinchilla-like creature named Elfilin, Kirby sets off to rescue his friends and find a way home.
