The Slump Cone apparatus for conducting the slump test essentially consists of a metallic mould in the form of a frustum of a cone having the internal dimensions as: Bottom diameter: 200 mm, Top diameter : 100 mm, Height : 300 mm and the thickness of the metallic sheet for the mould should not be thinner than 1.6 mmResistant to water (non-hygroscopic) – does not absorb moisture.
Not resistant to solvents – dissolves in chemicals like acetone, benzene, and some adhesives.
Non-biodegradable – environmentally persistent unless recycled.
Other Characteristics
Easily cut and shaped – can be cut with hot wire or sharp blades.
Flammable – burns easily, sometimes treated with flame retardants.
