Rice husks are low cost renewable byproducts with diverse farming applications like
1. Chicken brooding - Make excellent deep litter bedding. Are highly absorbent hence controlling moisture and ammonia odors. Insulate well and gradually compost with droppings for easy cleanout.
2. Mushroom farming, serve as ideal substrate or caging for Oyster and Paddy straw Mushrooms. They help in providing structure, moisture retention and carbon for Mycelium growth.
3. Bedding for cows and Pigs- A 10-15cm layer of husks stays drier than straw, absorbs odors and compose rapidly with manure into high quality fertilizer.
