The non-return valve (NRV) in a compressor machine, also called a check valve, allows compressed air to flow in one direction only. Its main functions are:
Prevents backflow – Stops compressed air in the tank from flowing back into the compressor pump when the motor stops.
Maintains tank pressure – Keeps the stored air inside the receiver tank until it is needed.
Protects the compressor pump – Prevents reverse pressure from damaging the pump, valves, and piston.
Makes restarting easier – Works with the unloader valve to release trapped air from the discharge pipe, reducing the starting load on the motor.
Improves efficiency – Prevents air loss, helping the compressor maintain pressure and operate more efficiently.
Enhances safety – Reduces the risk of pressure-related damage caused by reverse airflow.
