Brake pad sensors are small electrical components attached to the brake pads.
They detect the thickness of the brake pads and send signals to the car’s computer system.
When the brake pads wear down to a certain level, the sensor triggers a warning light on the dashboard.
Function and Replacement:
As the brake pads wear, the sensor gradually gets closer to the rotor.
When the sensor contacts the rotor due to thinning brake pads, it completes an electrical circuit, activating the warning light.
If you’re replacing the brake pads, it’s recommended to replace the sensors as well.
When installing new pads, connect the new sensor to ensure accurate wear monitoring.
