The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204, 2008–2014) utilizes two pressurized gas-struts to hold up the bonnet (hood) safely. Over time, the internal hydraulic seals naturally degrade, causing the struts to lose pressure. When this happens, the heavy metal bonnet will slowly sag or slam down unexpectedly, creating a safety hazard when working in the engine bay.
