Holland & Barrett Shilajit is a naturally occurring resinous substance found primarily in mountainous regions including the Himalayas, formed over centuries through the gradual decomposition of plant and mineral material. It is broadly composed of ~80% humic compounds including fulvic acid, dibenzo-alpha-pyrones (urolithins) and humic acid plus trace minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. In Ayurvedic medicine it is classified as a 'rasayana' (rejuvenating compound). Fulvic acid and dibenzo-alpha-pyrones are associated with antioxidant activity and support for mitochondrial energy production.
