Foundation Kenyan Sign Language Learner's Book for Grade 4 broadly covers Kenyan Sign Language Concepts outlined in the Competency Based Curriculum Designs for Grade 4.
Learners with hearing impairment have limited meaningful audio interactions with their environment and as such they utilize their visual and residual auditory senses to acquire information, hence they require special consideration in the learning process.
It is recommended that total communication (manual signs, gestures, body language, and lip reading among others) is used as a mode of communication in the day-to-day interactions with peers and the society; and this enables the learner to access meaningful learning. Visual and residual auditory senses should be stimulated to maximize potential in acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes.
