Chemical Mechanism & Sheet Structure
The paper generates crisp copies via a pressure-activated chemical reaction between layered coatings:
• CB (Coated Back) – The Top Sheet: The underside of the original (typically white) sheet is embedded with millions of microscopic capsules containing clear dye.
• CFB (Coated Front & Back) – The Middle Sheet(s): Used in 3-part or 4-part configurations. The top side features a reactive clay layer to receive the image from above, while the underside features micro-encapsulated dye to pass the image down.
• CF (Coated Front) – The Bottom Sheet: The final sheet contains only the reactive clay coating on its front side to lock in the duplicate image, ensuring no dye bleeds through underneath.
