How It Works (Chemical Composition)
Unlike standard bond paper, NCR paper relies on an advanced micro-encapsulation chemical coating technology to clone text across a layered stack of sheets:
• Top Sheet – CB (Coated Back): The surface you write on is a standard premium paper, but its backside is coated with micro-encapsulated invisible dye.
• Middle Sheet(s) – CFB (Coated Front and Back): Used in 3-part or 4-part configurations. The front is coated with a reactive clay resin to receive color from above, and the back contains micro-capsules to push the image to the next layer.
• Bottom Sheet – CF (Coated Front): The final copy layer has a front coating of reactive clay but an uncoated back, locking in the replica permanently.
